Alternatively, one can consider the autocatalytic synthesis to be directed by the presence of genetic molecules that influence the structure of the final amphiphile, in which case we must assume a linkage between the abundancies of different types of genetic molecules with their corresponding synthetic products. In either case, the amphiphile; synthesis reactions acquire the property that the newly synthesized amphiphile is a structural relative of those that catalyze its synthesis.
