Microscopic chemically reactive electronic agents are targeted to provide autonomous experimentation in the form of lablets at microscopic scales of 1- 100 µm. The first lablet prototypes built with a microfluidic and electrochemical layer on top of thinned CMOS were constructed in an EU project called the MICREAgents project (2012-2016), coordinated by McCaskill, and achieved lateral dimensions of 100-140µm and a depth of <50µm, including an ob-board encapsulated fluid supercap for power.
