Programmed self-assembly of artificial cells

During PACE the potential of artificial cells for IT and other applications was investigated. During the first year a more theoretical, but broad overview was compiled in a IT-report. In a second phase a more experimental road was taken: Although artificial cells are not available, parts of the potential of them can be investigated by identifying mechanisms esteemed to be important independent of fully working artificial cells such as self-organization, self-assembly, information processeing and actuation.

This webpage contains links to material about macro- and microscopic self-assembly where these mechanisms were investigated on different scales.
